Last Friday we invited some friends over for a pizza party. This might not sound so interesting to you, but it was for our Japanese friends. None of them had ever heard of a pizza party, nor been to one. Imagine my surprise when I found a
Shakey's Pizza a few blocks from our house.
Shakeys is a throw back from my childhood in Anchorage, Alaska. Like Mia, I ate
Shakey's pizza when I was 5 years old too (as did Aaron---I think it was a west coast phenomenon).

It was fun. The kids put on dress-up clothes as did a mom...

We then burned off our extra energy by wrestling and dog-piling each other. I'm not sure how I always ended up at the bottom of the pile...

Then we settled down to watch Peter Pan together.

Yay Shakey's! Long live the pizza party tradition! You are definitely doing your duty as an expat - sharing our best local traditions! Looks like a lot of fun! Miss you guys!
