This Halloween we decided that we REALLY needed to share the experience with our Japanese friends. We did this by having two parties. The first one was at our home to carve pumpkins and decorate trick-or-treating bags. The second one was a costume party we held at the local park, followed by trick-or-treating in the neighborhood (see Halloween in
Shoto, Part II). Asa and I carved these little guys . Asa's is the cool one with teeth (leave it to the Japanese aesthetic).

Tomoe-chan and Asa-chan showing their home-made pumpkin cookies that they brought to the party.
Mia the witch and her friend Kotaro-kun hiding behind their edible masks.

Asa and Mia-
chan showing off the little origami witch they made together. What that woman can't do with origami paper...
Tomoe and her son
Shodai-
kun decorating their Halloween bag.

Melissa and Maddy-
chan getting out the pipe-cleaners...

Rhett just being his normal
huggable self...note the
McGrath curls have started coming in!

By the end of the party Mia was climbing the walls, rather, the doorways. Go Mia-
chan!
Our friends liked having a Halloween
experience other than choking down a gullet-full of candy...we saved that for the next day!

Wow--your Japanese pumpkins look great. And here I was worried that you wouldn't get to celebrate Halloween!
