Matcha in Kamakura

Reena and I made it to Hokokuji Temple in Kamakura. I was there with Aaron's family and my dad in October, but just before closing time. Sadly, we were turned away for matcha (green tea).

This time Reena and I made an effort to get to the temple on time. We rented bikes and made a quick trip of it. We got to sip rich, frothy and bitter matcha and take in the splendor of the bamboo forest around us.

Below is a shot of the green tea, replete with small flower-shaped sweet candies to cut the bitterness of the matcha. Reena said it was her favorite spot in Kamakura (even more than the Great Buddha).
