Mother's Day

On Mother's Day we went to Shoto Cafe for cake. Shoto is the name of our neighborhood. The cafe is a stone's throw from our house. Here's Mia grinning from ear to ear with happiness. She ordered cake with chocolate sauce and ice cream. We had no idea that the portions would be so huge, not too typical for Japanese restaurants. This place is dog friendly, especially to little toy poodles and the like. At the front door is a little white fluff ball of a dog, always perfectly groomed and wearing different hipster tee shirts with matching bows each day.

Here I am with the two reasons that allow me to celebrate Mother's Day. Mia and Rhett have been total troopers throughout this move to Japan. Although Mia misses her friends and family like crazy, she never complains and seems to take it all in stride. Rhett has gotten to be an expert at sleeping through the night. All he wants is someone to hold him and smile at him. He is an easy little guy to have around. Both of the kids take after Aaron in so many ways, especially in looks and temperament. I can't complain, that's why I married the guy!

After Shoto Cafe we went to our local park. Mia got to work in the sand box.

Rhett and Aaron tackled the slide.

Rhett was positively thrilled to be able to stand up at the top of the slide.

...and also thrilled to climb up the slide with a little help from his dad. To me this is a great snapshot of my little guy. This is exactly how I see him everyday. All in all, it was a successful Mother's Day.
