Grandpa Bert comes to Tokyo

Grandpa Bert made his second trip to Tokyo this April. You can tell that the kids loved spending time with him. This was a regular scene with all three of them sprawled on the couch---usually watching a movie and eating macaroni together.

We also made it to the Shinagawa Aquarium and saw the spectacular sea lion and dolphin shows. Grandpa Bert and Mia especially liked the sea-life inspired carousel.

We did a family outing to Kodomo no Kuni, or Kid's Country. It is located 40 minutes out of Tokyo. It's basically a huge green park with farm animals to pet and ride, an amusement park, swimming pools, etc. A perfect place for young children. Mia got to ride a roller coaster by herself for the very first time.

Both kids rode the ponies. Rhett was a little shy of the ponies at first, but his cowboy dad quickly got him acclimated.

Grandpa Bert also got to see Mia whiz around on her bike, with no training wheels!

Mia took this picture of the motley crew.

She also took this delightful picture of my dad...

Grandpa Bert---we love and miss you. Take care and come back soon!
