Sakura in Kyoto

Here's my dear friend Margaret. She planned her trip perfectly so that we could have and extended tour of the cherry blossoms, from Tokyo to Kyoto. The sakura in Kyoto start blooming a couple weeks later that the Tokyo sakura.

In Kyoto we stayed at the Westin Miyako Hotel. Across the street from the hotel is an old railway that is bordered by cherry trees. We spent the afternoon along the promenade, taking in the scene...

This is a group of women that were touring Kyoto also. We offered to take their picture. We came across them a couple times while we were visiting the sights. They couldn't have looked more elegant in their kimono and sandals.

The railway led us to a river where people were taking a boat ride to view the cherry trees. The view was stunning.

Thus ended our first day in Kyoto.
