Valentine's Day a la Japonaise...

If you read below, you will see that there is a missing picture---here it is!

Due to the sudden and final death of my camera, I'll have to use last year's Valentine's Day pictures as filler. Below you see us in Seattle, so naive about Japanese ways...

The Japanese have a different way of celebrating Valentine's . Here, the ladies give chocolates to the gents on this day. It is strictly a one-way-only gesture of affection. Men do not give anything on Valentine's Day.

Luckily for the ladies, the Japanese have invented a new holiday on March 14th. It's called "White Day" in which only men get to give the chocolate.

Last year we had our friends Brian, Tracey and their little baby Maeve with us in February. Mia , Rhett and Maeve are enjoying a little blankie time here.

Oh, yes-back to Valentine's Day in Japan. This year Mia had some girlfriends over to decorate cookies and make Valentine's cards. To be certain that no boy in there class was forgotten, they divied up all the boys in their class amongst themselves. On Valentine's Day they brought the boys cards, candy and cookies. You should have seen the little boy's faces. They were flabberghasted by the outpouring of love from the girls in their class. Some blushed, some were too shy to speak, but all seemed proud that they had merited a Valentine's goodie bag---from a girl no less.

Hey, McTarrants! This is Lisa Lessley Briscoe here... Craig and I had dinner last night with J.D. Roth and Kris Gates and we were talking about your fabulous blog. Since we all started reading it rather recently, we're wondering what happened in the beginning, but we can't get there without going backwards through everything. Do you have the link to your very first blog post? Then we can more effectively stalk your adventuring. You can e-mail me at lpublic@chezbriscoe.com.

Cheers!
