Anpanman Children's Museum

Welcome to the Anpanman Museum in Yokahama...home of my favorite Japanese superhero (you might remember him because I dressed up as him for Halloween this year). We went there yesterday with two other families. We chose Wednesday because they have a free concert for the kids then.

Mia and Katie can be seen with their favorite member of the Anpanman clan "Melon-panna-chan" behind them. She has a head made out of melon tasting bread. Katie's mom has a friend from her high school days in the Anpanman concert we attended, small world indeed.

Mia and Alex are in front of Anpanman and Currypanman...

Once inside, Rhett quickly maneuvered himself to Akachanman or Baby Man. Go figure.

Mia , Claire and Katie in front of Rollerpanna and Melonpanna. The museum was full of photo opportunities. It was three small floors with displays of all the characters, videos and play areas. It was the perfect size museum for the wee ones.

At the musical show Anpanman taught us how to do his little dance and sing his theme song.

Then we were off to Uncle Jam's Bakery. Uncle Jam created Anpanman. Every time Anpanman's head rots off, he bakes him a new one (his gets moldy because his nemesis Bakinman shoots bacteria and viruses at it).

Mia chowing down on Melonpanna's head...

Me with an exquisitely poured Anpanman red bean latte and a Baikinman pastry. I consumed arch enemies and yet lived to tell the tale.

I had to buy the bread set to bring home. From upper left to right: Shokupanman, Anpanman, Currypanman and below Doikinchan, Baikinman and Melonpanna. Why I know or care about these things I'll never know.

How could you not want to just eat them?? (Cute enough to eat was a phrase that must have been from Japan...). I'd like one that's called Rhett-panman. I'd eat that one up in 3 little nibbles... yummy! Thanks for sharing Tiff. Love reading the blog and staying updated on all the fun!
