Matsumura Yochien's Annual Field Trip

Each fall Matsumura takes the whole kindergarten on a field trip. This means 100 students get rounded up by their parents and teachers and meet at a park. We did this last Friday. This year we went to Inokashira Park. This is a favorite of ours (the park with the swan-shaped paddle boats). Here's Mia goofing off with some class mates Miu-chan (girl) and Ko-chan (boy).

The highlight of this trip was the guinea pig petting zoo. Here's Mia's class listening to a brief tutorial on how to hold a guinea pig.

We then had lunch as a class. We brought our little plastic tarps to sit on. And yes, in fine Japanese fashion, we took our shoes off before sitting on our tarp to eat. Mia, Alex and I had lunch together and then went to the zoo, aquarium and squirrel house.

We stayed at the park from 10am until 1:45pm. At the end we met as a class to bid each other sayonara and thank the teachers.

Mia and I stayed afterwards to go back to the guinea pig pen. She held about 30 different piggies. This was her favorite that she named "Pumpkin".
