7-7-07 Tanabata Festival

July 7th is Tanabata. Also known to Westerners as Star Festival. The story goes that two royal stars fell in love. They were so in love that they neglected their royal duties and the heavens went to ruin. It was then decided that the Milky Way would separate them & they could only see each other once a year...and that's today on Tanabata. For more information:

For Tanabata you make a wish on a piece of paper and you hang it on a bamboo branch. The wind then carries your wish up to the stars. Here's Mia in front of the Tanabata tree her class made.

Another Tanabata tree from her school. There were a total of five bamboo branches covered with the kid's wishes. It was so colorful.

Here's Mia's wish, "I want to have a swimming pool at my house." A nice idea, not sure when that wish will ever be fulfilled, but you've gotta have dreams!

Just love Mia's school uni. Our wish for the beautiful Tanabata tree is that she and her family visit us next month. Sure hope that wish comes true. H&Ks.
