In Memorium of my Grandma Bernice Sorensen

Grandma Bernice and Mia, summer 2006.

Four generations: Bernice, Dianne, Tiffany (with baby Rhett in the oven!) and Mia.

In Memoriam of Bernice Sorensen

When I heard from my mom that Grandma Sorensen had just died--I started crying. Crying for so many reasons. Crying because someone so important to me had just died. Crying because it made me remember Grandpa Harry's passing. Crying because I was hoping to have one last time for her to see my kids---her great-grand-kids. But most of all, crying for the huge hole that she leaves in our lives.

I have great memories of spending summers with her and Grandpa Harry on the farm. She and Grandpa drove me all around Montana visiting my aunts ,uncles, and relatives. We were up early to drive & always stopped at the Four Bees restaurants. They made sure that I got to know my family and I thank them for that.

When I think of Grandma, one word comes to mind: energy! Grandma was always busy. Apart from raising four great kids, keeping her own garden, cooking, cleaning, canning, sewing, doing laundry and dishes---she was a fun person. She was a hard worker and never complained about it. She "loved to go" and never let the grass grow under her feet. If there was something happening, she wanted to be a part of it. Even after a full day's work, she kept us all busy at night time too, with endless card games. She taught me Whist, Cribbage, and Dominoes, and never let me win without a fight.

And oh could that woman cook! She made everything from scratch. Canned cherry sauce, cookies, pot roast...you name it, she cooked it, and it all tasted great.

Grandma was so proud of her kids. She didn't have a chance to go to college. It meant the world to her that her kids got an education beyond high school. Wayne, Dianne, Russell and Laurie--she loved each and every one of you in her own, special way. You each brought such joy to her life. Please don't forget how much you meant to her.

I'm so glad that she and Grandpa Harry had a chance to enjoy their golden years together by heading down south to Arizona for the winters. They both seemed to really enjoy their time with family and friends there. Golf, cards, and just plain socializing kept them busy and young at heart. Grandma took me to water aerobics class at Venture Out, and had me walk around the park perimeter with her for exercise. Like I said, no grass growing under her feet!

Grandma Sorensen was the real thing. She wasn't selfish, nor boast-worthy. She called a spade a spade. She loved her husband, her kids and her brothers and sisters. She will be greatly missed.

I love you and miss you Grandma! You made a huge mark on my life and I will not forget you.

Your grand daughter,
Tiffany

Tiffany, what a fine Memorial. You just capture her so with your writing. One of our favorite photos is that one of four generations of strong Montana women. Hurrah, Grandma Sorensen. Love, Wendy and David

This is beautiful, Tiff. I'll always remember your grandma playing cards on the ferry to your wedding!
