Mia's Ballet Recital in Tokyo

Mia had her ballet recital in Tokyo on July 24th. It was a huge event at a beautiful performance hall. I've learned that whatever the Japanese do, they take it seriously. Mia and her troupe had been practicing their dance for 6 months. They had four dress rehearsals. The day of the event we arrived at 10 am, and their dance was at 4pm.

Recital day started off with the girls getting into full makeup---Japanese style.

Then they were off to the main stage for another dress rehearsal in their flower petal costumes. *Note the mini-hats they were wearing. The Japanese simply love the mini-hat, you can see adults wearing them all the time. I don't quite get it...

Afterwards they went for their professional dance troupe pictures. Mia seems to be channeling the French mime Marcel Marceau...

Little Mia-chan (the only non-native Japanese speaker in the group) with her ballet buds.

Sadly, I wasn't able to get any decent footage of her dance. You'll just have to believe me when I tell you that she did a wonderful job. All their hard work paid off.
Daddy was right there afterwards to hand her a bouquet of flowers and give her a big hug and kiss. We are so proud of our little ballerina. Bravo!
